About the Event
Personal possessions tell a beautiful story of an individual’s life showcasing the different phases as one progresses through their journey from birth to death.  The items may represent one’s childhood, accomplishments as an adult, memories of travel, gifts received and the passing of family heirlooms from generation to generation.
When older adults go through health, financial and residential changes, they will face an overwhelming process with their lifelong belongings―evaluating what is special, ordinary, and forgotten. Such a dilemma now confronts tens of millions of Baby Boomers who are transitioning into retirement and beyond. Despite what a thriving professional organizing industry tells us, for most older adults, downsizing is no simple task.
Rachel is a leading voice on the subject of sorting, thinning and repurposing personal belongings.  Her workshop will engage in the how, why and proven techniques of what to save, what to share with others and what is best to be donated.  Most importantly, Rachel will help the audience understand that letting go of belongings does not mean letting go of the memories or connections that have been created throughout a lifetime.
